Villa Arco is a luxury house reflecting the climate and traditions of Podhale. The hosts' many years of passion for the mountains and traditional Podhale architecture inspired the design of the house, which was built in 2006-2008. The spaciousness, colors and quality of materials used by local contractors define style and the highest quality. You will find here old rugs made in pre-war manufactories in Krakow, Zakopane and Gliniany (now in Ukraine), and on the walls pictures of the mountains of Ansel Adams, a master of black and white photography, copies of old Tatra posters, as well as 19th century graphics from the Tatras of Bogusz Zygmunt Steczyński , engravings from the Tatra Society publications, and traditional Podhale paintings on glass, as well as tables and railings hand-forged by a Zakopane blacksmith. In the kitchen, on the walls, the hosts placed showcases with hand-picked and dried flowers from French Provence. In the living room and bedrooms you will find a substantial collection of mountain books, but not only.
The house is located in Kościelisko on the estate near Blachówka, 3.9 km from Zakopane. It is located on the slope of Butorowy Wierch, on a southern, very sunny slope. The heart of the house is a spacious and sunny living room with a fireplace and a terrace with a view of Giewont and the entire Tatra Mountains from Bielskie to the West. The kitchen connected with the living room is made in the highlander style, and a large family table invites to joint "owners". During the grazing period (lasting from the day of St. Adalbert, April 23 to the day of St. Michael the Archangel, on September 29), sheep are grazing in the surrounding meadows, who announce the arrival of the herds with bleating and sounds of bells. They are always accompanied by juhasi and several well trained shepherd dogs.
Villa Arco has everything you need for a great stay - it is spacious, comfortable and ideally located for every season. In winter you will be sitting in front of the fireplace, in the sauna or in the quiet of the lower living room, in spring you will admire the crocuses on the meadow adjacent to the house and admire the winter mountains still growing from the fresh mass of green valleys, in summer pamper the sun and views from the terrace or from the garden or in August nights watch for falling stars - fortunately, and in the autumn admire the changing colors of the sun reflecting off the Giewont massif.
The house is an ideal starting point for hiking, cycling, cross-country, classic or skitour skiing. A few minutes drive will take you to the Kościeliska Valley, Mała Łąka or Chochołowska, as well as to the Witów-Ski ski resort in Witów or to the Chochołowskie Termy. In the middle of the road to Zakopane (5 minutes by car) you will find the Szymoszkowa Glade with a chair lift and an open-air swimming pool.
In addition, Zakopane itself offers a great cultural and entertainment offer throughout the year, e.g. the Zakopane Jazz Spring at the turn of April and May; The Great Tatra Picnic in May; days of Zakopane in June, days of music by Karol Szymanowski at the turn of July and August; International Mountain Folklore Festival in mid-August; Tatra Wici in August; The Music at the Heights Festival at the end of August or the International Film Competition taking place as part of Meetings with Mountain Film in the first half of September.
The Witkacy Theater and RZT Szymoszkowa Entertainment Theater offer a year-round program of performances and artistic events.
The owners are experts in the Tatras and are always happy to provide advice and share experience in the field of mountain activities.
